Helen read Law at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, before completing her BVC and being called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 2006. She was awarded a Queen Mother Scholarship from Middle Temple, and, having reached the semi-final of the Rosamond Smith Mooting competition, was invited to represent Middle Temple in a mooting exchange at Pepperdine University, California.
Helen has a general common law practice, with particular emphasis on the areas of personal injury and residential landlord and tenant (both private and social). She regularly appears in the High Court, County Court and other tribunals on trials and interim applications, as well as regulatory housing work in the Magistrates' Courts.
Personal Injury
Advising, drafting and advocacy in all areas of personal injury work for both claimants and defendants. Helen has experience of health and safety claims, trips and slips, and road traffic accident cases. Helen is keen to continue to expand her practice through instruction as junior counsel on larger claims, including clinical negligence cases.
Property
Advising, drafting and advocacy in all areas of residential landlord and tenant work. Helen has experience representing local authorities, housing associations and their tenants and also landlords and tenants in the private residential sector. She has particular experience of employee claims, disrepair claims, anti-social behaviour claims and injunctions, succession cases, trespasser claims, subletting and vacation claims, tenancy deposit and rent arrears.
Common Law
Advising, drafting and advocacy in general contractual work, nuisance and trespass claims and other torts. Helen also has experience of employment cases.
Interests
Playing and listening to music; ballroom and Scottish dancing; and a good book.
