Helen read Law at Balliol College, Oxford where she won the university wide Holdsworth mooting competition before completing the BVC at BPP Law School. Helen was called to the Bar in 2004 and was awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Scholarship for her studies by Inner Temple.
Helen's practice covers a wide range of general property, commercial and traditional Chancery work. She has an interest in all of Chambers' main areas of practice, including landlord and tenant, real property, corporate and personal insolvency, professional negligence, contractual disputes and company law.
Helen appears regularly in the High Court, County Courts and tribunals representing clients at interlocutory and final applications as well as at trial. She enjoys both the adversarial and advisory aspects of practice. Recent cases include:
Property/Landlord and Tenant
Boundary disputes, anti-social behaviour injunctions, emergency access injunctions, possession hearings, houses of multiple occupation, dilapidations, charging orders, occupier's liability, Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 matters, licensing applications.
Insolvency
Corporate insolvency, winding-up petitions, bankruptcies.
Company/Commercial
Credit agreements, contractual disputes, debt recovery.
Professional Negligence
Letting agents, conveyancing matters.
Memberships, Publications and Talks
Helen has given talks on practical tips for defending small claims and was part of a team teaching advocacy to the Malaysian Bar. Helen is a member of the Bar Pro Bono panel and a regular contributor to A-Level Law Review Magazine.
Personal
Outside her practice, Helen enjoys travel, cooking and cycling.
