Mair Coombes Davies specialises in Dispute Resolution.

She has conducted many hundreds of separate arbitrations, adjudications and mediations. Her main area of practice is construction.

After receiving degrees from the University of Wales, including a PhD in law, Mair Coombes Davies practiced as a barrister specialising in the built environment. Her experience includes the resolution of disputes involving all aspects of the built environment from residential, commercial, industrial, landlord and tenant, property and land disputes to infrastructure development and procurement. Covering new build, building refurbishment and extension, architectural, engineering and quantity surveying disputes on valuation, final certificates, accounts, retention, liquidated and ascertained damages, quality of work, time and design. Interpretation of clauses within parallel management and works contractor contracts, ad hoc contracts, construction, engineering, central and local government contracts.

She is an appointed arbitrator of the Welsh Assembly Government and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (UK).

In addition to being a practicing Arbitrator, Barrister, Adjudicator and Mediator she leads and sits on specialist committees on the development and future of ADR (alternative dispute resolution) for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the General Council of the Bar and the Royal Institute of British Architects. She has lectured widely and is the author of several publications on ADR. She represents the UK on dispute resolution at the Architects Council of Europe, Brussels.
