Blessing accepts instructions across chambers’ main practice areas. Prior to joining chambers as a probationary tenant in November 2023, she completed a civil law pupillage at a specialist Set with a focus on Property, Commercial and Company Law.
Blessing consistently achieves good outcomes in court. She is regularly re-instructed by clients in Landlord and Tenant matters such as possessions – including against persons unknown, access and anti-social behaviour injunctions and disrepair claims.
During her pupillage Blessing also gained a range of experience on high-value insolvency and company matters, including cases raising complex issues around international jurisdiction and foreign enforcement of judgments. She has also had extensive experience shadowing members of chambers in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Blessing is a gifted oral advocate and she has been praised for standing out and performing years beyond her call. She is regularly invited to speak at the Inns of Court and was invited by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple to conduct Civil Advocacy Training when she was only a first-six pupil. As a pupil she also presented in legal seminars for Housing Officers, Lawyers and other professionals.
Background
Blessing graduated from The University of Warwick with an undergraduate degree in History and Politics. After achieving a First Class in her dissertation on Legal Reform in post-apartheid South Africa, Blessing undertook the GDL at City University London. She received a commendation on the GDL, going on to complete the Bar Course at City Law School where she achieved an outstanding in Civil Advocacy and a Very Competent overall. Blessing’s GDL and Bar Course studies were supported by a scholarship award from The Inner Temple.
During the GDL and Bar Course Blessing was the Senior Director of the School Exclusion Project, representing the parents of children unlawfully excluded from School by challenging the exclusions under Judicial Review principles. Prior to commencing the Bar Course Blessing completed a Summer legal research internship at JUSTICE where she covered law and policy around Human Rights Issues, Youth Criminal Justice and Digital Accessibility in Courts. Following the Bar Course she completed a Summer Internship in Cape Town, South Africa at the University of the Western Cape Pro Bono Advice Clinic where she advised residents on criminal, family and marital property matters and completed outreach at a local Youth Detention Centre. Blessing’s Internship was funded by The Inner Temple’s Internship Award.
Prior to commencing Pupillage Blessing worked as a paralegal on two high-profile Public Inquiries working under the direct supervision of Local Authority and Cabinet Office Solicitors. Alongside this work she also gained an extensive amount of commercial experience working as a Legal Assistant for a regional private Adult Social Care and Supported Living service provider. She drafted residential license agreements, eviction notices, reviewed contracts for employment and developed an innovative semi-automated business recruitment workflow to ensure legal compliance around right to work and the recruitment of sponsored workers. She also completed a range of regulatory compliance work drafting operational policies and safeguarding reports for the Local Authority and Care Quality Commission. Blessing completed an additional internship with Gainsborough Law Chambers, completing company and commercial property work.
In 2017 Blessing founded BLESSING AT THE BAR, a platform providing content, events and study resources for aspiring barristers. She is a passionate advocate for ambitious women and girls from marginalised backgrounds and is often invited to speak at schools, universities, and on educational panels. Notable previous speaking engagements include BBC Radio 4, Channel 4, the Ministry of Justice and the University of Cambridge. She was also a Founding Committee member and Trustee of Bridging the Bar – a charity providing opportunities and access to underrepresented groups at the Bar. Blessing has had multiple features in the legal pages of The Times in recognition of her work with BLESSING AT THE BAR.
Outside of her work at the Bar, Blessing is also a Creator and Artist.
