Phoebe Whitlock

Phoebe Whitlock has a distinguished background as a technology Solicitor and Solicitor-Advocate. Having practised as a solicitor for a number of years, she is now returning to the Bar to continue building her legal practice, focusing on intellectual property, technology, and commercial law.

Her expertise is underpinned by extensive in-house experience advising the world’s largest tech and digital businesses on complex regulatory, data protection, and IP matters. Phoebe is also a qualified civil mediator and has been involved with several complex cases while working in-house.

Phoebe is a graduate of the University of Oxford with a Master of Science in Intellectual Property Law. She is also a Director of the Intellectual Property Awareness Network. Her contributions to the legal field have earned her recognition as a rising star by the Women and Diversity in Law Awards and the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards. Phoebe is currently a Churchill Fellow and working on a project in relation to how AI can be incorporated into the Justice system.

Phoebe is also respected legal thought leader especially in the charity and technology space. She advises on the boards of multiple charitable organisations including as the lay legal trustee for the Royal Microscopical Society. She is also part of the agile management team for the Society of Computers and Law.

Phoebe is also particularly experienced in small claims involving credit hire both on the fast track and the small claims track. She also has experience acting in contractual and business disputes for large and small businesses.

Phoebe is interested in all aspects of technology law, including new and developing areas such as Cryptoassets and Cryptocurrencies. She has previously been involved in cases involving online fraud and digital impersonation.

Her experience as in-house counsel and in private practice also gives her a practical understanding of the commercial pressures underlying disputes and the importance of finding solutions that work beyond the litigation itself.
