Clive Blackwood

Head of Commercial

Head of the Chambers’ Commercial Group, Clive Blackwood has deep experience of a wide range of commercial contentious and  non-contentious matters, particularly in the fields of insurance and reinsurance litigation, banking and insolvency, company and partnerships, general contractual work and employment law.

Educated in Scotland and at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, Clive was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple (Profumo Scholar) in 1986 and qualified as a mediator in 2006. He undertakes mediation work both as an advocate and mediator, specialising in SMEs, shareholder disputes, professional and family partnerships, LLPs and companies, internal corporate and employment related disputes. He is the author of the “Mediation – Best Practice Guide” for one of the country’s leading mediation practices.

In addition to his legal practice, Clive has served as a director of a number of companies, including a national mediation company and at PLC Board level, and has inside knowledge of both local (City of London Corporation, London Boroughs) and national government. He therefore brings substantial practical experience to the issues that arise in the commercial field, undertaking both contentious and non-contentious drafting and advisory work.
