Intellectual Property success

Timothy Sampson and Matthew Winn-Smith have recently enjoyed High Court success in an interesting hybrid case involving defamation, intellectual property and company disputes. Following a trial of the intellectual property and company matters (the defamation element currently stayed to await this result) the duo secured a comprehensive victory on all counts.

Le Chef Plc, ARTA Ltd and Mr Munim have an interest in the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (“ARTA”), a big deal in the restaurateurs’ milieux. Those three parties repelled claims brought against them which sought to disturb the established equilibrium of intellectual property rights and company ownership pertaining to ARTA.

The following picture shows Dr Sampson (who dealt with the intellectual property matters) and Mr Winn-Smith (who covered the company elements) outside the High Court with a delighted Mr Munim (holding the spectacular ARTA trophy) and instructing solicitor, Nabila Rafique of Lexpert Solicitors.
