International Women’s Week 2023 at Lamb Chambers. Spotlight: Antonia Halker

Today, we’re highlighting Antonia Halker. Antonia specialises in property law and is listed in the Legal 500 2023, Legal 500 2022 and Legal 500 2021 as a leading junior for property litigation. The below is how Antonia started in law and her advice for women looking to break into the field of law.

What made you decide to pursue a career in law?

When I was about 11 years old a Barrister came to speak in a careers lesson at school. I remember that the idea of being able to argue for a living appealed to me at the time and from that day I decided I wanted to be a Barrister.

How did your career begin?

After studying Law at university and then attending Bar School, I worked for a while as a County Court Advocate. I then cross qualified and practiced as a solicitor for a few years, but really missed advocacy and being in Court, so later returned to the Bar and have been practicing ever since.

What advice would you give to young females about to embark on their legal careers?

I never questioned whether being female would be a barrier to a successful career as a Barrister and I don’t believe it has been. My advice would be to never doubt yourself and always have confidence in your abilities.

Who is one of your role models?

Serena Williams.
